A little bit about David…

With over two decades of experience as a hospitality entrepreneur, I’ve dedicated my career to building experiences that blend culinary excellence, cultural relevance, and meaningful connection. I’ve led the launch and growth of some of the most innovative concepts in the space—rooted in a passion for people and a relentless drive to stay ahead of the curve.

As Founder and CEO of VCR Group, I lead a forward-thinking hospitality company with a growing portfolio of unique, high-impact brands. Our concepts include ITO and Bar ITO, refined omakase and hand roll experiences in collaboration with renowned chefs Masa Ito and Kevin Kim; Little Maven, an intimate, seasonal neighborhood restaurant; Capon’s Burgers, a rapidly expanding burger brand; Capon’s Chophouse (launching soon), a modern reimagining of the classic steakhouse; Flyfish Club, the first members-only private dining club originally powered by blockchain, rooted in elevated dining and social experiences; and Fly Fish at the US Open, a luxury culinary destination within one of the world’s most iconic sporting events.

Prior to VCR, I was the co-founder and operating partner of the Empellón Restaurant Group, where I helped shape and scale a collection of award-winning concepts alongside Chef Alex Stupak—including a 7,500-square-foot, three-star New York Times flagship in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

I’m also the founder of Impulse Event Productions, a premier New York-based event company with a track record of producing immersive, large-scale experiences for world-class brands and clients.

Beyond operations and concept creation, I play an active and hands-on role in driving the business forward. I focus heavily on pipeline development, investor relations, strategic partnerships, and long-term expansion—raising capital, forging key relationships, and identifying the opportunities that shape our future. My role is equal parts visionary and executor, ensuring we’re always growing with purpose, building great brands, and staying at the forefront of what’s next in hospitality.
