Senior Vice President, Acquisitions - Head of Urban Growth at Life House

A little bit about Rani…

Rani is currently SVP Acquisitions at Life House, spearheading their urban growth efforts, institutional capital partnerships, and strategic venture with Kayak Hotels, part of Booking Holdings. He also is a Partner and Head of Hotel Investing at GEI, a NYC-based special situations real estate investment platform.

Prior to Life House , he oversaw development and acquisitions for Pod Hotels and Virgin Hotels in North America, launched Cedar Funds, a New York City based development and investment firm with a focus on progressive hotel & real estate assets, and held various senior roles at IHG and Jones Lang LaSalle. Throughout his career, he oversaw and contributed to the growth of 20 hotels worth over $1.8B in real estate value, and advised investors on $4.2B worth of real estate investments.

Rani also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia’s Master’s in Real Estate Development program, where he teaches in the Spring Private Equity Development, Hotel Focus. He holds a Master Degree from the program, an MBA from the HEC Business School, Canada, a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management from Glion Hotel School, Switzerland, and a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell University, New York.

Rani has lived on three continents and speaks three languages. He is an avid traveler, runner, cyclist and swimmer. He currently lives in New York City with his wife Alisha and son, Reece.
