Megan Kennedy
Principal of Elder & Ash
A little bit about Megan…
Megan Kennedy believes that everything is art—the alchemy of color, texture, and detail that shapes not only how a space looks, but how it feels. As a Principal of Elder & Ash, an award-winning boutique design firm, she brings together more than a decade of hotel operations expertise with a lifelong love of art, antiques, and craftsmanship to create interiors that are both visually arresting and deeply immersive.
Her earliest memories are of tagging along to flea markets and auctions, an only child learning patience among endless rows of treasures. Often visiting grandparents who owned and operated an inn and an antique shop in the Berkshires, Meg grew up surrounded by hospitality and history.
These experiences taught her to recognize and appreciate objects with soul—and to see potential where others might not. Today, her favorite design moments come from finding something unexpected or overlooked and turning it into a showpiece that feels perfectly at home.
A hobbyist painter and photographer, Meg has always been drawn to the visual. She believes in the stories told by makers’ hands, and that there is always beauty in grit. For her, design is never just what meets the eye—it’s a full sensory experience, engaging touch, sound, scent, and atmosphere to create something palpable and alive, and something people sense long long after they leave.
With Elder & Ash, Meg leads projects that balance bold creativity with operational know-how. Her care for every single piece of the puzzle ensures that all decisions, from the largest architectural gesture to the smallest tactile touchpoint, contribute to a cohesive story.
In her hands, hotel design becomes more than decoration: it becomes identity, memory, and connection.
